Pokemon Go announced the release of an in-game outfit in support of the United Nations' Global Goals, disappointing players who hoped the shirt meant a new event was on the way. Earlier this month, we reported that Pokemon Go developers had added a new t-shirt in the game's code featuring the logo for the United Nations' Global Goals initiative. Since the UN was hosting a Global Goals event beginning on September 18, many hoped it signaled that a new event was coming soon.

Unfortunately, the t-shirt was just....a t-shirt. Pokemon Go tweeted out that players could obtain the t-shirt for free to raise awareness of the UN's seventeen Global Goals.

Niantic CEO John Hanke also released a brief blog post reminding players of their partnership with the Global Goals program, which began when they added seventeen PokeStops in Switzerland, each of which symbolized one of the goals of the program. "This free shirt gives you and the millions of Trainers around the world the opportunity to stand with us as we look to show our support for initiatives that make the world a better place like the Global Goals," Hanke wrote.

The t-shirt is now live in-game and can be obtained simply by clicking on the "style" menu and picking out the shirt from the wardrobe options.

Since it doesn't appear that we'll be getting a Global Goals event, players will probably start looking to Halloween as the next likely date for a possible Pokemon Go event.
