The new Pokemon Go update is live on the Apple and Android stores, but don't expect any hidden surprises. The update (1.33.1 for iPhones and 0.63.1 for Android devices) is basically exactly what Niantic advertised it would be when they announced it a few days ago. The update provides support for Brazilian Portuguese, and also shows your progress towards medal tiers when tapping on a medal in your character screen.

A datamine posted earlier this week revealed that Niantic is working on several new major features for the game, including an overhaul of the game's gym system. Although raids and other improvements are in the works, it looks like they're not quite ready to go at this time.

Players have patiently (or impatiently, depending on who you talk to) waited for a major update for Pokemon Go for month. Niantic CEO John Hanke recently promised that Pokemon Go would add three more "major updates" in 2017 in the vein of the February update that added over 80 new Pokemon to the game. Sadly, it appears that players will have to wait a few more weeks to see if any big changes are in store for the summer months in the US.

With the update out of the way, many Pokemon Go players will turn to speculating when the next event will occur. There's a federal holiday coming up in the US, and it's very possible that Niantic will host an event to take advantage of the long weekend.
