Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2: Will [Spoiler] Return To The Marvel Cinematic Universe?
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hit theaters over the weekend and raised several important [...]
Yondu Udonta
Before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 came to an end, Yondu Udonta was revealed to be the real father Peter Quill never realized he had but also made the ultimate sacrifice to save his boy. As Ego the Living Planet imploded, the two flee the planets atmosphere and rocketed into space while only Quill was wearing a space suit.
Yondu died with Quill's face in his hands for an emotional send off. To top it off, the Colors of Ogord shined over his space funeral as the Ravagers offered a proper send off.
Will we ever see Yondu in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again? ComicBook.com asked that question directly to Michael Rooker for his perspective on it and he isn't ruling anything out.
"Well you never know about the Marvel Universe, my friend," Rooker said.
While his answer is frustratingly vague, it's true. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has proven that characters can return from death in the past.
prevnextPrevious MCU Deaths
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen a handful of major characters killed within their films but only a small number of them have remained dead.
For example, characters like Quicksilver and Peggy Carter get the short end of the stick in terms of staying dead (so far). One was killed in Avengers: Age of Ultron and the other in Captain America: Civil War. Peggy, however, continues to have the option to pop up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in flashback sequences for films like Ant-Man.
Then there are the revival deaths. Both Phil Coulson and Nick Fury were thought dead in The Avengers and Captain America: The Winter Soldier respectively but would return either in their own TV series or later in the film. Fury, however, was never even dead. He simply faked his death for the characters and audience alike in an effort to dodge Hydra. Coulson was very much dead before being revived in Tahiti.
All things considered, the Marvel Cinematic Universe holds onto the option of bringing Yondu back to the big screen, be it in flashback form, some sort of revival, or something we haven't seen yet such time travel bringing him back. With Avengers: Infinity War on the horizon, you never know!
