Earlier this morning, the first official trailer for Avengers: Infinity War hit the internet, causing a wildfire of reactions across social media. To keep the excitement rolling, Marvel took to their Instagram page to share a slightly shortened version of the trailer, causing all of us to watch the full-length trailer a dozen more times.

With the sheer volume of characters involved in Infinity War, even the full-length trailer had a difficult time giving audiences a glimpse of all the major players. The Instagram trailer shows a handful of heroes involved in the film, but allows Thanos to take center stage for this massive event.

In addition to the new footage from the film, a new synopsis was also released, which is as follows:

“An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

“Anthony and Joe Russo direct the film, which is produced by Kevin Feige. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee are the executive producers. Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely wrote the screenplay. Avengers: Infinity War releases in U.S. theaters on May 4, 2018.”

The first footage from the superhero epic debuted earlier this year at D23, with Disney’s focus the last few months being a variety of Star Wars related projects. With The Last Jedi hitting theaters in less than a month and Infinity War being six months away, the promotional campaign is only just getting started.

Lucky for Marvel fans, the release of Black Panther on February 16 will help tide you over until the massive showdown begins in May.

Avengers: Infinity War lands in theaters on May 4, 2018.
