With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premiering in theaters everywhere today, Marvel is ready to unveil some of the cards in their vest to get you excited in case you were one of the handful of people on the planet still on the fence.
A lot of speculation was had about who Sylvester Stallone was playing in the film after he was first announced, right up until it hit theaters overseas last week. But now that the cat is out of the bag, Marvel has released the first footage of his character in the film online for the viewing public.
If you’re still hoping to go into this blind, click away because we’re veering into SPOILER TERRITORY [and, come on, what are you even doing here if that’s the case?] down below.
In the beginning of the film, Stakar gets in Yondu’s face, saying “Ravagers don’t deal in kids.”
Yondu demands respect from Starhawk and “a seat at the table,” but Starhawk derides him for whatever deals he made that lead him toward kidnapping Quill in the first film.
It’s clear there’s a lot more going on in this scene, especially given that Yondu never delivered Quill to his father as he was paid to. Did he have another deal with Ego the Living Planet? One that maybe caused him to abandon the morals that he had to abide by as a Ravager?
ALSO, check out the person standing behind Starhawk—is that Martinex!? Looks like we finally know who Michael Rosenbaum is playing, and James Gunn’s love for the original Guardians of the Galaxy team is really shining through in this film.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is in theaters now.
