'Marvel's Inhumans' Ratings Fall Again

Ratings for Marvel’s Inhumans continued to slide after the show’s third week on the air.

The fourth episode of Marvel’s Inhumans, titled “Make Way For...Medusa ” scored a 0.6 in the key 18-49 demographic, and was viewed by 2.3 million people overall. While that’s a new low for the series, the episode still performed better Fox’s The Exorcist and The CW’s Jane The Virgin premiere in the same time slot, though each Network has its own standard for rating success.

For ABC's part, the cost of Marvel's Inhumans' eight-episode first season is said to have been covered by the show's first-of-its-kind IMAX premiere.

The two-hour television premiere of Marvel’s Inhumans scored a 0.9 and was watched by 3.8 million people. Those numbers aren’t much to celebrate, but after the thrashing given to the series by critics and fans alike ahead of its premiere, the ratings were considered to be not a total disaster.

Ratings fell in the series' second week, dropping 22 percent to 2.8 million viewers overall with a 0.7 in the key demo for the episode “Divide and Conquer.”

ComicBook.com’s Kofi Outlaw, in his review of the IMAX premiere of Inhumans, said, “After a lot of clunky early ensemble scenes, [showrunner Scott Buck] decides to separate the Royal Family and scatter them across Hawaii, while simultaneously taking away everything that makes each character extraordinary. What we're left with is a fish out of water’ storyline that doesn't offer very exotic or interesting fish, essentially negating the primary appeal of the Marvel brand,” though he did believe there was room for improvement, adding, “Inhumans doesn't start off on its best leg, but like with Agents of SHIELD, there’s enough potential for the show to grow into something worth watching. It just needs to find its footing, quickly.”

Now halfway complete, the Marvel’s Inhumans may not have found its footing quickly enough. The fifth episode, “Something Inhumans This Way Comes,” will air next week.

Following the finale of Marvel’s Inhumans, Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD will return for its fifth season in the same Friday night time slot on December 1st.

Marvel’s Inhumans airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
