Bryan Singer says there’s “no alternate cut of [X-Men: Apocalypse]” coming, following the release of the Rogue Cut of X-Men: Days of Future Past, the last film in the series. There are, however, several deleted scenes that will make their way onto the home release of the film.
“I’m not a big fan of director’s cuts or extended editions, I never have been,” Singer told Fandango. “In the case of Apocalypse, I removed what would be considered a conventional amount from the movie to protect what we call the collective experience of the feature theatrically. How it feels pace wise and movement wise.”

That said, there will be plenty of deleted scenes that hit the home release, most notably the much-extended mall sequence. In the film, you’ll see many of the young X-Men heading out to the mall for a day away from their mutant-focused life to just act like regular kids – but it’s a pretty quick sequence. It’s one that doesn’t include that record store shot of the Dazzler record that was posted to instagram, or the Nightcrawler brain-freeze line in a recent TV spot.
Another scene focuses on the brotherly relationship between Scott and Alex Summers that Singer said is “a good scene” but slowed things down a bit too much. “I don’t want the audience to feel that [slow down].”
MINOR SPOILER AHEAD
Fans will also have to turn to the deleted scenes to see Jubilee’s powers in use – they didn’t make the cut of the film.
“We do have a moment where Jubilee uses her powers that you’ll see on the DVD. I wanted more Jubilee,” Singer said.
While there won’t be an official “extended cut,” Singer said they’re toying around with an option on the home release to insert the cut scenes into the film where they would have fit.
