Fans have wondered if Hulu‘s adaptation of the Runaways would include Gert’s pet dinosaur Old Lace, especially given how closely guarded details of the show have been in the buildup for the premiere next month.
The new poster for the series, by artists and co-creators Adrian Alphona and Christina Strain, seemingly confirms the Deinonychus for the series, providing a tease of how the character will appear on the new show.

Old Lace is telepathically linked to Gert in the comics, created by the teen’s evil parents and intended to be a gift as part of her inheritance. Gert accidentally comes across the dinosaur while trying to flee from their parents after discovering they’re super villains. Though Gert suffers a tragic fate in the story, Old Lace remains with the team and ends up becoming a regular member of the crew.
So far, we’re not sure what will translate over to the TV show, but producers Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz seem to be sticking faithfully to Brian K. Vaughan, Alphona, and Strain’s original series.
We’re likely to learn more about the series, and maybe even get a big reveal of Old Lace, at New York Comic Con this weekend when the lid finally pops off and secrets start pouring out. With Runaways being featured in a panel on Friday evening, Hulu might just release the first trailer of the series.
The show is scheduled to come out in November, so promotion has to begin sometime soon. Though press have gotten a glimpse at the series’ first two episodes, the embargo prevents them from saying anything spoilery about the series. But the buzz so far has been pretty positive.
Hopefully we find out more about Marvel Television’s latest series during New York Comic Con.
Runaways premieres on Hulu on November 21.
