X-Men fans were treated to a lot of Easter eggs during the premiere of the new Fox television series The Gifted but there's one that slipped just under the radar.

CBR reports that Fox has confirmed that, while the character was not named in the scene, Sage made an appearance in the debut. The longtime X-Men character, who counts superhuman mental processing ability as her primary power, appeared in the scene where she spoke with Blink (Jamie Chung) at the secret mutant headquarters.

Sage first appeared in Chris Claremont and John Byrne's X-Men #132 in 1980. She was one of the first mutants Charles Xavier discovered, but instead of bringing her to his school, Xavier instead sent her undercover with the Hellfire Club where she infiltrated the group under the name Tessa.

In addition to confirming that the character, played by Hayley Lovitt, appeared Fox indicated that fans will be seeing more of the character and, as the series continues, her mutant abilities as well.

While most fans missed Sage in the premiere, they definitely didn't miss some of the other Easter eggs. Stan Lee had a cameo in the premiere and, much to the delight of audiences, so did the X-Men: The Animated Series nod in the form of the ringtone.

Fans can keep their eyes open for more Sage and more Easter eggs in The Gifted on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
