Marvel TV and Netflix are clearly excited about bringing Iron Fist, their final solo series before The Defenders unite, to the small screen. Another day brings another video promo, the third this week after a full trailer and a Colleen Wing clip, this time focusing on the star of the show, Danny Rand.
Rand, aka Iron Fist, is played by Finn Jones, who also rounds out the cast of The Defenders, in post-production now to also premiere in 2017. He'll join Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Kristyn Ritter), and Luke Cage (Michael Colter), who have each been featured in their own Netflix series previously.
The new promo video asks, "Who is Danny Rand?" And proceeds to answer the question with: "Orphan, Monk, Billionaire, Living Weapon, The Final Defender." He declares, "I am the Iron Fist," to which Claire Temple (our unifying element between the series so far, played by Rosario Dawson) replies in the trailer, "what the hell does that mean?"
The "Living Weapon" part of that promo will certainly make Marvel Comics fans smile. That's one of Iron Fist's other aliases, and was even the title of one of his ongoing comic book series.
Marvel's Iron Fist developed by Scott Buck. The Netflix series stars Finn Jones as Danny Rand, a martial arts expert with the ability to call upon the power of the Iron Fist. The cast also includes Jessica Henwick, David Wenham, Jessica Stroup, Tom Pelphrey, and Rosario Dawson.
Iron Fist was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane for Marvel Comics. Iron Fist made his first appearance in Marvel Premiere #15 in 1974. Though he has headlined his own series, he is best known for being Luke Cage's partner in the Heroes for Hire.
Marvel's Iron Fist premieres March 17, 2017 exclusively on Netflix.
