Amy Acker has joined the cast of the untitled X-Men television series coming to FOX, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The 40-year-old American actress will portray Kate Stewart, “a woman who is struggling with her separation from her husband Reed (Stephen Moyer) and her increasingly challenging teenage children. When her family situation takes a dark turn, she finds that she’s stronger than she thinks.”

Acker is best known to us for playing Audrey (a.k.a. ‘The Cellist’) in Agents of SHIELD, Agent Phil Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) love interest prior to getting stabbed to death by Loki in Marvel’s The Avengers and resurrected by the TAHITI project. She co-starred with Gregg in Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing adaptation. She also appeared in two other Whedon-led series: Angel and Dollhouse. People might also recognize her for playing Root on Person of Interest.

The X-Men pilot is being written by Matt Nix and directed by Bryan Singer with a script that focuses on two parents who discover their children are mutants. The family then has to go on the run and joins an underground network dedicated to saving mutants.
Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory will executive produce the pilot.
