The Little Mermaid Fans Are Creating Art Inspired by Halle Bailey's Casting

Last week, it was revealed that Halle Bailey is set to play Ariel in the upcoming live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid. The casting has sparked a pretty massive conversation on social media, with quite a lot fans rallying behind Bailey adapting the character for a whole new generation.

"After an extensive search, it was abundantly clear that Halle possesses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence, and substance — plus a glorious singing voice — all intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role," the film's director, Rob Marshall, said in a statement when Bailey's casting was announced.
