As previously announced last year, Batman co-creator Bob Kane will be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next week.

Kane, the contractual creator of Batman and the man credited with much of the early art on the character.

Born in 1915, Kane entered the comics field at age 21 and worked there on and off for much of his life, in addition to doing commercial illustration and film work. He served as an adviser on numerous non-comics Batman projects including the 1989 Tim Burton movie.

The ceremony will take place on October 21, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. PST and will feature both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice filmmaker Zack Snyder and DC Entertainment Co-Publisher Jim Lee as guest speakers, as well as the Batman v Superman Batmobile, DC Comics announced.

The Guinness Book of World Records will be on hand to award Lee (on behalf of Batman) the record for most film adaptations by any comic book character.

The extent of his contributions to the creation of the world of Batman and the art itself has been contested by various sources over the years, most notably by critics who claim large swaths of the mythology were created by Kane's contracted writer, Bill Finger. Finger was recently given a credit on multimedia projects like TV's Gotham and the forthcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice film. Last year, there was speculation when Kane's star was announced that some Finger supporters might protest the ceremony, but there are no known plans for such an event.
