Box Office: Neighbors Wins Weekend, Amazing Spider-Man 2 Crosses $550 Million Worldwide

As was expected, Neighbors took the #1 spot away from the Amazing Spider-Man 2 at the U.S. box office this weekend. Neighbors made a very strong $51.07 million debut in its opening weekend. In its second weekend, Amazing Spider-Man 2 took second place at the U.S. box office with $37.2 million. Even though Amazing Spider-Man 2 didn't manage to manage to hold its #1 spot for a second weekend at the U.S. box office, the film crossed several other milestones this weekend. At the U.S. box office, Amazing Spider-Man 2 moved past Divergent to become the third highest grossing film of 2014 so far at the U.S. box office. The Amazing Spider-Man 2's total gross of $147.9 million trails only The Lego Movie's gross of $253.17 million and Captain America: The Winter Soldier's gross of $244.99 million. At the international box office, Amazing Spider-Man 2 is doing better than it is in the U.S. Amazing Spider-Man 2 has grossed $550.9 at the worldwide box office, which is good enough to make the film the second highest grossing film of 2014 so far at the worldwide box office. Amazing Spider-Man 2 trails only Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which has grossed $695.6 million at the worldwide box office.
