During tonight's episode of CONAN, Conan O'Brien asks J.J. Abrams about the controversial Star Trek Into Darkness scene, which shows Alice Eve in her underwear. J.J. Abrams explains, "She's changing, and the idea was, the intent was, it's Kirk, who was always a womanizing character...the idea was have a beat like that in the midst of all this action and adventure. Have a beat where he looks and doesn't look away, I don't think I quite edited the scene in the right way, but to me it was sort of a balance, there's a scene earlier where he's not dressed either." J.J. Abrams continues, "So I felt like it was sort of a trade off, but some people did feel like it was exploiting her. While she's lovely, I can also see their point of view." After Conan O'Brien showed images of both the undressed Alice Eve scene and the undressed Kirk scene, J.J. Abrams reveals that there was actually a deleted shower scene involving Benedict Cumberbatch's character. We've embedded Cumberbatch's shower scene below, complete with some new music for the scene added by Conan.
