Hallmark Reveals Full Countdown to Christmas 2025 Calendar (With a Couple Massive Changes)

It may not even be Halloween yet, but The Hallmark Channel is already eyeing the Christmas season. As fans of the network know, the Countdown to Christmas (24/7 holiday programming and a slew of new original movies) begins in the middle of October and runs through December. This year is no different in that regard, but there are a couple of major changes that will likely leave the Hallmark faithful divided.

First of all, the most noticeable change in 2025 is that the number of Countdown to Christmas movies has been cut nearly in half. Instead of around 40 original films this year, Hallmark will be releasing 24 new movies. That’s still a lot, but it’s a big drop from the last few years. A part of that drop is being made up for with original TV shows, like Mistletoe Murders and Twelve Dates ‘Til Christmas, which are airing on Friday nights throughout the Countdown to Christmas.

The other big change coming this year is that the Hallmark Mystery channel won’t be releasing new original films. In recent years, Hallmark Mystery’s Miracles of Christmas included new movies on Thursday nights, before the weekend slate on the main Hallmark Channel began on Fridays. This year, Hallmark Mystery will still be airing a 24/7 holiday marathon for Miracles of Christmas, but it won’t have new originals.

That’s a lot of change all at once for Hallmark, but the network is still delivering a bigger Christmas movie lineup than anywhere else. The Countdown to Christmas films kick off on October 18th and the final new movie arrives on December 21st. Each of the new movies will be added to Hallmark+ the day after they air.
