Sony and Marvel's jointly-produced Spider-Man reboot from filmmaker Jon Watts is being prepped for an IMAX 3D release.

There are a relatively limited number of IMAX screens, and they're always in heavy demand, but Deadline reports that last week's flurry of release date shakeups left Spider-Man in a position to open on IMAX screens when it hits theaters in July 2017.

The announcement came from Sony's Josh Greenstein, president of Worldwide Marketing and Distribution at Sony Pictures, Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, and Greg Foster, Senior EVP of Imax Corp and CEO of Imax Entertainment.

In Marvel's Spider-Man, one of the most popular and profitable superheroes in comics or film history will get his first stand-alone film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following his first appearance later this year in Captain America: Civil War.

The movie is due out in 2017 and will star Tom Holland.
