Jack Sparrow has faced many adversaries, though it is questionable how much of his previous fights he remembers. It’s not like he’s got the best recollection of past events, but it will be quite difficult to forget the harrowing face of Captain Salazer, and the conflict between them is the star of a brand new poster.

Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales centers around Johnny Depp‘s Sparrow as he is pursued by the vengeful Salazar, played by Javier Bardem. The new poster features the two at a standoff (via ComingSoon), with Sparrow looking a bit surprised and maybe a bit put off by Salazar’s grisly face. It really is a face only a mother could love.

The conflict stems from actions taken in Sparrow’s past, and Dead Men Tell No Tales will give fans their best glimpse of a young Sparrow in action. It will also bring back beloved characters like Hector Barbossa and Will Turner, though it isn’t known how Turner will figure into the plot just yet.

You can view the new poster in the gallery, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales currently enjoys a 3.40 out of 5 on ComicBook.com’s anticipation rankings. The official synopsis for the film can be found below.

“Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazer (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea โ€“ notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifull small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has never faced.”

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, and stars Johnn Depp, Javier Bardem, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush, Kaya Scodelario, David Wenham, Brenton Thwaites, Golshifteh Farahani, Stephen Graham, Goran D.
