Peacock Finally Streaming One of the Best Zombie Movies of All Time (But the Sequel Is Hard to Find)

There’s nothing more terrifying than a flesh-eating, undead being hunting you down, which makes it easy to see why zombie movies are some of the most captivating horror films to hit the big screen. Ever since George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead brought zombie movies mainstream, there has been a steady stream of terrifying zombie films in theaters, but none have done it quite as well as a late 2000s cult classic. That star-studded movie just joined Peacock’s September 2025 streaming lineup just in time for Halloween, but fans will still have a hard time hunting down its sequel.

Ruben Fleischer’s hit 2009 post-apocalyptic zombie comedy Zombieland started streaming on Peacock on September 1st. Led by a star-studded cast that includes Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin, with a hilarious cameo from Bill Murray, the movie centers around a ragtag group of survivors as they make their way towards a rumored safe haven in Los Angeles, abiding by a list of survival rules and zombie-killing strategies along the way. The 2019 sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap, can only be streamed on Hulu with a Live TV subscription or is available to rent or buy online.

Why You Should Watch Zombieland

Zombieland was released during a period when the zombie genre was completely saturated with titles on both the big and small screens, but it managed to offer a fresh and entertaining take and prove that zombie comedy was a viable and lucrative form of entertainment. The movie in many ways can be seen as a love letter to the zombie genre, one that pays homage to those that came before it and embraces the genre’s tropes while subverting them with a comedic tone, particularly through the list of “rules” of survival in a zombie apocalypse. Zombieland is also packed with witty dialogue, visual gags, and fast-paced humor, which is balanced with over-the-top gore and violence.

With a witty and fast-paced character-driven story led by a great ensemble cast, Zombieland is a fun and entertaining watch that is easy to revisit time and again. The movie was a critical and audience hit upon release. With a $102 million worldwide box office haul, it became one of the highest-grossing zombie movies of all time. It’s also “Certified Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes with an 89% critics’ score. Its audience rating sits at 86%.

New Halloween Season Additions on Peacock

Zombieland is just one of several dozen movies now streaming on Peacock that are perfect for the Halloween season. If you’re putting together a scary movie marathon for September, other streaming options include Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds and Psycho, a handful of movies from the Child’s Play franchise, Universal Monsters movies such as The Creature Walks Among Us and Frankenstein Meets the Wolfman, and more family-friendly options like Goosebumps and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

Peacock plans to keep the scares coming throughout October, with a wave of more horror titles set to arrive in the coming weeks. Streaming options next month include Edward Scissorhands, Exorcist: The Beginning, Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3, The Omen (1976), and Shaun of the Dead, just to name a few.
