The movie in question is A Working Man, the 2025 adaptation of Chuck Dixonโ€™s 2014 novel Levon’s Trade. The film was released in theaters on March 28, 2025, and started streaming on Amazonโ€™s Prime Video streaming service on September 3rd. Directed by David Ayer, who co-wrote the screenplay with Sylvester Stallone, A Working Man stars Jason Statham as Levon Cade, who left his decorated military career in the Royal Marines to lead a simple life as a construction foreman in Chicago. But when his bossโ€™s daughter is kidnapped by human traffickers, he is pulled back to his military skills and works to bring her back home, uncovering a world of corruption far greater than he ever could have imagined.

Why You Should Watch A Working Man

A Working Man wasnโ€™t the blockbuster hit that some of Stathamโ€™s other acting movies are, and it didnโ€™t receive much praise from critics, but the movie is reliably entertaining and a classic Statham action that any fan of his will love. The actor puts his action experience on full display as he steps into a character type that is familiar to fans. The movieโ€™s strength undeniably lies in Stathamโ€™s brutal, unflinching, and heart-pounding performance, but the film is also a crowd-pleaser due to its intense and satisfying action sequences, Ayer’s direction, and overall spectacle, leading to a movie with great entertainment value.

A Working Man grossed $98 million worldwide, just doubling its reported $40 million budget, a number that put it far and away from Stathamโ€™s top-grossing films, like the blockbuster hits The Meg and Furious 7. The movie was also met with mixed reviews from critics and only holds a 47% criticsโ€™ score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, A Working Man has been overwhelmingly well-received by audience members and holds a โ€œVerified Hotโ€ distinction on the review aggregator site with an 87% audience rating.
