Here it is, folks--the full teaser trailer for Paramount's upcoming spacefaring sequel Star Trek Into Darkness, with twenty extra seconds on it for your viewing pleasure. This is not only for people who didn't make it out to see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey this weekend but also for those who saw it in IMAX 3-D at one of the locations where you missed this trailer and instead got to see a nine-minute preview of the film's beginning. There's been a mountain of press around last week's announcement video, and the villain we see here is still as-yet-unidentified in the minds of many fans. Officially, he's "John Harrison," but with cast and crew having told fans already that he's an existing character from Star Trek: The Original Series, there's some doubt as to the validity of that claim. There's nobody actually named John Harrison in the original series, after all--just a glorified extra named Harrison...who played a role in Khan's first attack on the Enterprise. The actor, of course, insists it's not Khan--he won't even say the name--but there are some fans who think he (along with co-star Simon Pegg) protests too much. If you want a primer on some of the major candidates, check out the cases we've built that it could be Khan, it could be Gary Mitchell or who else it might be. We did get a name on Alice Eve's character. She's Eve Marcus, a character who also has a tangential connection to Khan but is better known for having a child after a brief affair with James Kirk and not telling him she was pregnant after they split up. Star Trek Into Darkness will be in theaters on May 17, 2013. Update: Trailer will go live at 9 AM PT.
