Zack Snyder Says Casting Ben Affleck in Batman v Superman a No Brainer
In a brief chat with People Magazine, director Zack Snyder was asked about an aspect of the film he probably feels like he's talked to death at this point: the casting of Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The casting was announced in August, 2013, after all.
Affleck is helping Snyder out in the "Doritos Crash the Super Bowl" commercial contest, where the winner will win a job on a future WB movie with Snyder, though, so he's back to talking about his casting.
"Casting Ben felt like a no brainer to me. I know that there was some backlash, but he's just so perfect to me, especially in his size and age," Snyder said.
This Batman will be different from others we've seen on the silver screen, being played older and - possibly more importantly - more imposing than everyone around him, including Superman, played by Henry Cavill. That makes him "an amazing Bruce Wayne," the director said frankly.
Of course, that doesn't mean other attributes Affleck had didn't help.
"And then when he puts the cowl on, you know he's got the chin for it," he quipped.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, starring Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, and Ben Affleck's Chin, hits theaters March 25, 2016.
