Alyssa Milano's Hacktivist Series In Development At The CW

It looks like The CW will be adding another hit drama to its line-up. In a recent report. Deadline has announced the network is developing a series adaptation of Alyssa Milano's graphic novel Hacktivist.

The gritty cyber-drama will be overseen be CBS TV Studios and BOOM! Studios. Matt Corman and Chris Ord will write the series and borrow from the previous work on Covert Affairs. The pair will also executive produce the series alongside Milano, Ross Richie, and Stephen Cristy. BOOM! Studios' Josh Levy will co-executive produce.

If you're not familiar with the graphic novel, then you should know it debuted back in 2014. The comic follows two characters Nate Graft and Ed Hiccox who are best friends and social media moguls. The pair created one of the world's most popular social networking companies and find themselves recruited by the CIA to bring about global and social change. Using their wealth and fame, the characters embark on covert missions - but not all is what it seems.

As the pair continue contracting work with the CIA, their desire for knowledge grows greedier. The duo eventually question whether or not they can trust the federal agency as their working relationship sours with paranoia.

Milano created the series which BOOM! published under its Archaia imprint. Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly (Batman: Eternal) wrote Hacktivist while Marcus To illustrated. The series has released two volumes as of now with each of them receiving favorable reviews.

Of course, there's no word on when The CW may release the series should its pilot be given the all-clear. The network will first need to undergo casting and pre-production before the first episode of Hacktivist can be shot.

There's also no word on whether Milano herself will star in the show. The Charmed actress was most recently seen on Mistresses as Savannah 'Savi' Davis and Project Runway: All Stars as a judge.

Should Hacktivist join The CW's growing schedule, it wouldn't be the first comic book adaptation to air on the network. The channel famously houses several DC Comics adaptations like Arrow and The Flash. The CW has also housed smaller adaptations like iZOMBIE, a series that originated at Vertigo in 2010.
