Earlier today, Marvel released the second trailer for Ant-Man. The trailer packed action, humor, and an army of ants! If you haven't seen it, we have it for you right here. Below, we take a closer look at the trailer.
The trailer opens with a shot of San Francisco, where Ant-Man filmed, and apparently will be set.
A look inside Pym Technology, as Darren Cross gives a tour.
Ant-Man somersaults through the air and sticks the landing!
The camera whipped fast on this one, but if you look at it you'll notice that the man being flung into the wall is seemingly being launched by nothing. It's most likely the case that Ant-Man shrunk down and used his super strength to take out the guard.
Cross tells visitors about his plan to create a soldier that's the size of an ant, inside the Pym Technology building.
Hank Pym looks on, amongst the crowd, but is not clapping. He's either not impressed or insecure about Cross' plan. Pym is in the center of the frame, a few rows back, wearing the brown suit.
Pym Technology building, presumably on the San Francisco Bay.
An explosion outside of a house. It looks like the same place the guard was attacked earlier in the trailer. One would assume that this happens after the guard was attacked because he would have probably been alerted by such an explosion.
Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne discuss a plan to stop "him." They are likely talking about Darren Cross.
Pym mentions that he has a plan. We find Scott Lang in prison...
...taking a beating. He'll probably have a couple of sarcastic comments in here.
"I've been watching you," Pym tells Lang.
Pym visits Lang, probably in the prison. He is giving Lang a shot at redemption and believes Lang is different. Pym wants Lang to become the "Ant-Man."
Pym shows Lang his laboratory. It doesn't look like this is in the Pym Technology building which is significant because it means Pym is keeping this work a secret from those who work with him regularly but still choosing to show Lang.
Lang says that his days of breaking in and stealing things over.
A gigantic stash of cash. This amount of money has to be in a safe somewhere. If we're seeing it, it will come into play. Lang may have tried or will try to steal it from someone.
Pym wants Lang to break in somewhere and steal something. That's why he picked him for this job.
The Ant-Man suit, folded, a presented to Lang for the first time.
Four ants pick up a penny on a dash board...
...as Lang looks on and learns...
...that he can control them.
Lang begins learning how to control his powers as Ant-Man. He presses the red button on his hand and shrinks!
He is the size of an ant! More importantly, the ants respond to him.
ALL of the ants respond to him. Lang runs alongside an army of ants inside of an ant colony.
Full size Lang charges some enemies...
He shrinks down to ant-size and launches himself toward a bullet hole in the glass....
...then uses the hole as a point of entry to get to his enemies.
Lang mounts the guards gun, dodges a bullet as it's fired, and charges toward the man holding it.
Back to the comedy, as Lang arrogantly asks Hope Van Dyne to teach him how to punch and she unexpectedly punches him in the face.
Darren Cross is not happy that Pym and/or Lang kept the Ant-Man suit a secret.
As Cross says that they'll regret their actions, Hope Van Dyne sees Yellowjacket for the first time.
Yellowjacket and Ant-Man fight! Yellowjacket fires his lasers at a dodging Lang.
Elsewhere, Lang falls out of a helicopter. He clings on to the seat belt for dear life, high above the Golden Gate Bridge.
Back to the fight - Ant-Man is a tiny target for Yellowjacket, who keeps missing.
Yellowjacket shrinks to Ant-Man's size and the two engage, mid air, on their way to the ground.
"I am Ant-Man." It doesn't quite pack the punch "I am Iron Man," did when Tony Stark said it in 2008, but it's still exciting. Lang is going to fully embrace the Ant-Man role...
...and Yellowjacket is not impressed.
Ant-Man mounts a Thomas the Tank Engine toy as it barrels towards Yellowjacket...
...but the winner of the fight is comedy, when we're reminded how small of a fight we're watching. The intense music cuts and the Thomas train is derailed by Yellowjacket.
The intensity comes right back, though, as Ant-Man launches the caboose at Yellowjacket.
-----
Ant-Man is sure to be epic. The humor, action, and plot all look as strong as any other Marvel Studios property to date. Are you convinced?
Ant-Man hits theaters July 17, 2015.
