Aw Yeah Hosting a Hero Initiative Membership Party With BOOM! Studios on Saturday

In conjunction with the release of the new comic book Curse by BOOM! Studios, Art Baltazar and Franco's Aw Yeah comic book store in Skokie, Illinois will be hosting a Hero Initiative membership party this Saturday, January 25, at 6 p.m. All proceeds from the membership drive will benefit the Hero Initiative, a non-profit organization that aids comic creators in need. When attendees sign up to become a Hero Initiative member, they will receive a free copy of Curse #1 signed by co-writer Michael Moreci, who will be in attendance, as well as entry into the party for fans 21 and over. Curse is written by Moreci and Tim Daniel, and illustrated by Colin Lorimer and Riley Rossmo. Fans are in store for a smart, realistic, and haunting read. Curse follows Laney Griffin, a man who will do anything to save his son from leukemia, but the cost of treatment has broken him financially. When he pursues an elusive murderer in the wilderness of his small, rural community in the hopes of securing a substantial bounty, Laney is confronted with something he never could have expected: a werewolf. The captive lycan, in human form, turns Laney's life upside-down, forcing him to confront his haunted past and race against the clock—because the wolf will return, and Laney's son's condition continues to worsen. Curse is a story of a family's survival at all costs. In addition, BOOM! Studios has donated free comics to be given away at the event on a first come, including Hit, 2 Guns, Freelancers, Clive Barker's Hellraiser, Higher Earth and Deathmatch.
