If you haven't seen Black Mirror, it's the UK sci-fi anthology series that functions as a sort of futuristic Twilight Zone. It's been a showcase of some pretty excellent talent like Domhnall Gleeson, Hayley Atwell, Toby Kebbell, Tuppence Middleton, Rafe Spall, Rupert Everett, and Jon Hamm. More than that, it's been a showcase for some truly unnerving stories that reflect our modern dilemmas with technology, identity, and the relationships that connect us.

Black Mirror returns for season 3 on Netflix starting on October 21st, and it will bring a new batch of talent to series, including a lot of celebrity offspring. Such is the case with today's two sneak peeks at two of the six new episodes that are coming; they spotlight the stories featuring Bryce Dallas Howard (Ron Howard's daughter), and Wyatt Russell (Kurt and Goldie's son).

Howard's episode will be called "Nosedive," in which society's currency for power and fame is measured by social media likes. Howard plays Lacie, a girl who desperately wants to social media acceptance, and lives her life trying to secure that from people. Needless to say, trying to make others happy in exchange for online acceptance probably doesn't work out the way Lacie wants it to.

"Playtest" features Russell as a thrill-seeking gamer trying out a new type of video game - a VR simulator that gets a bit too real. It's supposedly a "techno-horror romp," which will offer viewers the most "horror" experience we've seen from Black Mirror thus far.

Needless to say, both of these episodes are disturbingly close to the state of modern culture. However, the joy of Black Mirror is often the twists on expectation that show creator Charlies Booker and Co. throw in; episodes rarely end the way you think they will, or build to the types of insights you would expect. So on the surface you may think you already know how "Nosedive" and "Playtest" will turn out - but you shouldn't bet on it.

Black Mirror will air season 3 on Netflix on October 21st.
