Michael Bay is teaming up with Paramount once again, but this time the Transformers director is adapting Wesley Chu's sci-fi novel "Time Salavager."

In the future, Earth is no longer habitable. Humans are now living amongst the stars, and they're not thriving. So with the help of time travel the men of the future are sending expendable men back in time to retrieve resources and treasure without altering the timeline.

The story will center on Convicted criminal James Griffin-Mars, who is one of the expendable. He's on his final mission before being granted retirement when he meets a female scientist that he knows will meet a grisly demise. He goes against his orders and brings the woman back to the future with him, where they become fugitives on the run.

The film will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian.

"The speed that Mark, the president of Di Bonaventura, pushed for Paramount to close the option, and the enthusiasm Michael Bay showed in attaching to 'Time Salvager,' has been nothing short of astounding," Chu wrote on his blog shortly before the official announcement, then quickly deleted. "Often, getting this far in the process can take months, if not years. This went down in a matter of weeks. It's still going to be an uphill climb but I have complete confidence in the team that Di Bonaventura and Paramount are assembling to usher 'Time Salvager' to the big screen."
