Ridley Scott Will Direct All 3 Prometheus Sequels; Alien: Paradise Lost To Begin Filming In March

1979's Alien, directed by Ridley Scott, became an instant science-fiction classic, strongly influencing the genre for the next several decades. Though, many people were left wondering why Scott didn't direct the 1986 sequel, Aliens. The simple fact is: He wasn't asked. This time around, Scott has no interest in letting someone else takeover his Prometheus franchise, which will eventually connect to his first Alien film.

While chatting with Den of Geek, Scott told the site that he'll begin filming the Prometheus follow-up, Alien: Paradise Lost, in March, not February as he previously mentioned. After that, Scott said he plans to make two more films for a total of four Prometheus films. When asked if he'll direct all of them, he replied, "This time? Definitely. Last time I should have done it." A reference to the Aliens incident that left him with hurt feelings.

Scott then discussed the significance of the Paradise Lost subtitle. "It's a subtext. Because where we go to is Paradise Lost," he explained. "The handsome guy gets all the fun and all the girls, doesn't he? And he's the evil son of a b*tch! He's the good-looking one who gets all the girls and goes to all the nightclubs. The good one is kind of dull and depressing! [Laughs] So in a funny sort of way, it touches on that. It's too simplistic to call the bad element in [Alien: Paradise Lost] evil, but it's closer to answering the question, who and why would any being create such a monster, and for what reason? There was a reason for that, right?"

Prometheus 2 will begin filming in March of 2016.
