Trek Nation

, Rod Roddenberry's tribute film to his father (Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry) will have its international debut next month at the 11th Annual Festival of Science Fiction and Fantastic Film, located in London's famed Apollo Piccadilly Circus. It will screen on May 7 as part of a double feature with White Room: 02B3, a film shot on a 360-degree camera and starring Franklin & Bash star Brecken Meyer. Trek Nation first debuted last November on Science Channel in the United States, and included interviews and archival footage featuring George Lucas, J. J. Abrams, Seth MacFarlane and more--as well as everyday fans and, of course, Rod Roddenberry. "By exploring my father through a variety of untapped touchstones, we were able to introduce the world to a Gene Roddenberry it's never met before. Through this process of humanization, Trek Nation reminds us that none of us are perfect but that within our imperfections lays the potential for greatness," said Executive Producer Rod Roddenberry in a press release.

White Room: 02B3 will see its world debut in the festival. The film was shot on an innovative 360-degree camera that was able to be a stationary eye at the action in the room around it, effectively putting the audience's point-of-view literally in the middle of the story. "In addition to quality science fiction, Roddenberry is known for taking strides into new technologies and pushing entertainment boundaries. With White Room: 02B3 we are certainly at the birth of a new kind of filmmaking," said Trevor Roth, chief operating officer and head of development at Roddenberry Entertainment.
