Rosario Dawson Talks Punisher In Daredevil Season 2 And Marvel Crossovers

Rosario Dawson gave a standout performance as Claire Temple in the first season of Marvel's Daredevil on Netflix. While promoting her involvement with the video game Call of Duty: Black Ops III at E3, Dawson shifted gears for a moment to look forward towards her character's role in Daredevil Season 2.

"I'm looking forward to seeing where that goes, because her eyes have been opened up to this other world — and she's crossed the line," Dawson tells MTV. "You know, this is someone who helps people, and she's been violent now but seeing the need for it. I think there's a lot that she's having to grapple with, and I think that's what's exciting about using this show to explore street-level characters: it makes it that much more closer to us."

Dawson also commented on the introduction of The Punisher, played by Jon Bernthal, in Season 2.

"That's going to raise the stakes so much more, because Matt Murdock almost behaves like the Punisher in the first season," she said. "[Matt] crosses the line quite often, so it's going to be really interesting to see how they differentiate them and where that goes."

Dawson's version of Temple is amalgam of Temple and another character from the comics, Night Nurse. Temple was a one time romantic interest for Luke Cage, while Night Nurse has tended to the medical needs of many of Marvel's street-level heroes. That puts in position to become a character that organically binds Netflix's various Marvel series together. However, if Marvel has plans to use her in such a way, they haven't informed Dawson just yet.

"I have no idea how they're wanting me to come back or in which way, shape or form," Dawson said, "but it's nice to know that I've got a character who does kind of string everyone together and bring all those worlds together."

Daredevil Season 2 will premiere on Netflix in 2016.
