In an interview with MTV, Avengers actor Samuel L. Jackson discussed the possibility of a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie, dismissing the notion of a Nick Fury solo film and seeming to confirm rumors that emerged out of last week's premiere regarding the identity of the fatality in The Avengers. Describing a potential S.H.I.E.L.D. movie as basically being James Bond, but with cooler toys, Jackson stopped short of confirming that such a movie is in the works. He did say, though, that if it were to get made it would likely be S.H.I.E.L.D., not Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., as there are so many indispensible characters involved with the organization at this point. "Natasha's part of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hawkeye is part of S.H.I.E.L.D., so I couldn't do a S.H.I.E.L.D. movie without those two people, because they're essential elements of what's there," he said in the interview. "Now we know Agent Hill is an essential element of S.H.I.E.L.D. so she would have to be there. And I'm still not sure if she's the eyes and ears of the council hanging around inside their place and telling people, 'We've got these superheroes over here!' She wants my job, I can tell. She's ambitious." The omission of S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson, who has appeared in every Marvel film since Iron Man, has been taken by many readers to be a quiet confirmation of his reported death in The Avengers.
