Gamers participating in the closed beta for the planned flight-simulation/dogfight game Star Wars: Attack Squadron have been informed that Disney Interactive will not be moving forward with the game, opting instead to focus their energies on other Star Wars-related games.
"We want to thank all of the fans who participated in the closed beta of Star Wars: Attack Squadrons," the game's Facebook page reads. "After much consideration, we have decided to cease development so that we can focus on other Star Wars game experiences. We truly appreciate the time you spent engaging in the beta."
Fans who enjoyed the beta are understandably disappointed and, not surprisingly, many are assuming that this is part of Disney's ongoing policy of divorcing itself from Lucasfilm's previous Star Wars commercial tie-ins and establishing a new status quo where everything is kept in-house.
