The international box office continues to keep pace with the domestic for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as the film crossed $600 million in foreign markets Tuesday with a $37.7 million haul and a $627.4 million new total. As earlier reported, it somewhat unexpectedly hit that $600M mark in the domestic market Tuesday, a day earlier than most analysts and estimates expected.

That puts the film at a worldwide cume of $1.228 billion, passing Iron Man 3 for the new all-time ninth spot on the record list. With an expected additional $200 million worldwide between now and Sunday, Force should be at #6 all-time after three weekends in theaters.

The one record analysts aren't sure The Force Awakens will beat, though, is Avatar's worldwide gross of $2.788 billion. The big wild card here is the fourth weekend (the first that's not a holiday), which will also add China to the international market. That's the second largest market in the world for films, and an indicator of whether this movie will hit $2 billion worldwide, let alone get anywhere near Avatar's all-time record.
