The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Viral Site Teases Monday Reveal

"Somebody is going to Rikers," says a cryptic post at The Amazing Spider-Man 2's Daily Bugle Tumblr. "Find out who on Monday!" It's listed as a "Bugle exclusive," so expect something interesting to happen right there at the viral site day after tomorrow. Riker's Island is a real-life prison on an island off New York City, named one of "America's 10 Worst Prisons" by Mother Jones magazine. In the Marvel Universe, it was used (although generally spelled "Ryker's) as one of the earliest holding areas for super-powered villains prior to the creation of The Vault. In The Spectacular Spider-Man animated series, a major story took place there featuring Electro and a prison break. The comics have seen villains like Armada, Venom (Eddie Brock) and Cletus Kasady (before becoming Carnage) held there, and it's where the Carnage symbiote first bonded to Kasady after the Venom symbiote spawned it while springing Brock from his cell. The "Find out who!" teaser may suggest that it's someone the audience already knows who's headed to Riker's--perhaps Big Man or Shocker, both of whom have been cited in the Bugle's viral teases? At least Shocker is already in custody. Obviously, Dr. Curt Connors is another possibility.
