Rumors have swirled recently that the eighth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise has been having a tough time finding a director.
Vin Diesel took to Facebook today, sharing a photo of himself and Fast 6 director, Justin Lin, and mentioning their discussion of Lin helming the franchise's conclusive trilogy of 8, 9, and 10. However, Lin is unavailable and Diesel has another candidate in mind: Rob Cohen.
The best part of the post, though, has to be the quote from Vin Diesel's mom.
As pulled from Diesel's post, "I will share something crazy that my mother said six months ago after the studio had me announce the date for 8 to the world… 'Either you direct 8 yourself... or don’t do it.' Some of you vinbook pioneers are all too familiar with my mother’s wisdom, as I have posted her sayings in the past on Our page… but I wrote it off as just a mother’s love and belief in me, though she has seen first hand what I've done to make these movies defy expectations and become increasingly successful, even when the studio thought I was crazy..."
Fast & Furious 8 directed by Vin Diesel! Well, probably not, but another Rob Cohen effort would be sure to please franchise fans. Diesel is responsible for some cult favorites aside from Fast & Furious, such as XxX and Chronicles of Riddick, though he didn't direct any of them.

Fast & Furious 8 is set for release April 14, 2017.
