For the first time in the U.S., Paramount Pictures's surprise hit World War Z is coming to IMAX 3D for a one-week engagement beginning on Friday.
The film--the most expensive zombie movie ever made and one which was widely expected to be a flop--has surprised everyone by grossing more than $460 million globally since its launch on June 21. The film has already played in select IMAX theatres internationally. The IMAX version has been remastered to make the most use of the IMAX format.
World War Z revolves around an ex-United Nations investigator Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), who traverses the world in a race against time to stop a pandemic that is toppling armies and governments and threatening to decimate humanity itself. The film stars Pitt, Mireille Enos and James Badge Dale. A sequel is currently in development.
