New Short Story Explores Obi-Wan’s After Death ‘Star Wars’ Experiences

In 1977, Star Wars shocked audiences when Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi allowed himself to be killed by Darth Vader. Obi-Wan himself might have been more shocked about what came next, which a new story in the anthology book Star Wars: From A Certain Point of View aims to explore.

The new book compiles forty different stories from forty different authors, each of which tells all sorts of untold stories from the galaxy far, far away. As you can see from the teaser above, author Cavan Scott’s story will focus on the first few moments after Obi-Wan was struck down by Vader.

Fans have been clamoring to know more about Obi-Wan, thanks to his presence in both the original films and in the prequel trilogy. In fact, news of an Obi-Wan spinoff film being developed by Lucasfilm was met with almost unanimous praise, whetting fans’ appetite for Kenobi’s adventures.

During Kenobi’s fatal confrontation, he addressed Vader and proclaimed, “If you strike me down, I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine,” conveying that he not only knew the significance of Luke Skywalker, but also that Kenobi was ready to transition into a new state of being.

The new story in the anthology could also explore more about Qui-Gon Jinn, Kenobi’s master whose life was cut short but Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace.

One of the more interesting bits of information in Scott’s teaser is Kenobi’s questioning of what was really going on, displaying that Kenobi, who we’ve seen elevate to be a Jedi master, was unsure if his plan to sacrifice himself had even worked.
