Porgs won’t make their onscreen debut until Star Wars: The Last Jedi next month, but the adorable creatures are already a hit with fans (and merchandisers). The Last Jedi writer-director Rian Johnson revealed more about the Porgs on Twitter, including the strange name for a group of Porgs.
They are sea birds. Their coloring varies. Males are slightly larger than females. They can fly short distances. They’re inquisitive.

Pablo Hidalgo, who works to maintain official Star Wars canon for Lucasfilm, reveals baby Porgs are “Porglets,” while Johnson chimed in to announce a group of Porgs is known as a “murder.” The image below, caught by a fan on the back of a Porg toy, shows your first look at a murder of Porgs. Starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Porgs, Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens December 15.
