This latest episode of The Walking Dead was full of surprises, even for those who have read the comics. Normally comic readers can typically predict what’s going to happen, but tonight’s episode saw Negan make an enormous change that no one saw coming. Not only was this move surprising, but it also means big changes for the rest of this season.

Were you able to catch the big change?

When Negan gathered everybody in the main hall of The Sanctuary, he told everyone that Doctor Carson had assisted Sherry in freeing Daryl. Dwight even planted the note he received from Sherry, making it seem like Carson was the one behind the whole escape.

In a shocking twist, Negan threw Carson into the fire, killing him.

If you read the comics, this was a huge surprise. Doctor Carson had a big moment coming up soon, that many readers were waiting for.

See, in those comics, Doctor Carson had some face-time with Eugene. He shows up to Eugene’s cell one night, and frees all of the prisoners. Carson reveals that his brother is the doctor at Hilltop, and they need to escape. The entire group leaves Sanctuary, and heads to been Harlan Carson in Hilltop.

Now, with Negan and Dwight’s decision on the show, that moment won’t happen. Eugene isn’t exactly being kept as a prisoner, as he was in the comics, but he will still need to find a way back to Rick and the others.

With Doctor Carson out of the picture, he will need to find another way. Could Dwight decided to leave Negan and take Eugene with him?
