Today, thousands of Walking Dead fans are united by their mourning. The hit drama returned last night to premiere its seventh season, and the debut was a horrifying one. Fans knew a major death would await them in the episode, but few predicted how traumatizing the whole ordeal would be. And, for one town mayor in Connecticut, the tragedy is enough to cancel Halloween over.

Mayor Mark Boughton is an avid fan of The Walking Dead, and he told his followers on Twitter last night that he would be live-tweeting his reaction to the show's return. Many of his followers are residents in Danbury, Connecticut - the city in which he is the mayor of - and they watched him hilariously react to The Walking Dead premiere.

When the episode began, Boughton seemed to be taking everything in stride, but his reactions took a turn once Negan took his bat to Abraham and Glenn. The mayor tweeted out, "Due to the the death of Glenn and Abraham. Danbury Public Schools will be on a 90 minute delay." At first, his followers couldn't tell whether the mayor was joking or not, but his tweets soon became too over-the-top to take seriously.

He then tweeted out that a memorial service for Glenn would be held at Danbury's city center. Then, minutes later, he said that the presidential nominees would be attending the somber occasion to pay their respects for the now-dead survivors.

And, of course, he even had to go and cancel Halloween. The mayor explained that, "Halloween is canceled due to the death of Glenn and Abraham and #glennseye. We have to process this people."

Clearly, there is no such thing as a check-and-balance system in Danbury.

While Boughton's reaction may be a bit extreme, he's not the only one reeling from last night and its carnage. You can check out ComicBook.com's review of the episode as Brandon Davis calls the premiere a "nonstop emotional rollercoaster."
