The season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead was inarguably brutal, but violent deaths aren't exactly uncommon in Robert Kirkman's universe. That said, it wasn't just the violence or Negan's relentless boot heel thrust upon their necks that left viewers with the hardest gut punch.

That came when Negan aimed to back up his previous decree by taking Lucille to the top of Glenn's skull. Seeing him struggling to breathe while looking at Maggie was heartbreaking, though it's easy to forget just how much he meant to the rest of the group, not just his wife.

While the subject is rather heavy, a recent video honoring Glenn's death, and his friendship with Rick, is decidedly not. It superimposes Rick and Glenn's faces on Vin Diesel and Paul Walker's bodies from their departing scene in Fast and Furious 7. It's ridiculous, and while we're sad that Glenn is no longer part of the universe, at least we can chuckle a bit thanks to Weeks.VFX, who put the animation together.

The video can be viewed above.

Many expected for the show to ultimately diverge from the comics regarding Glenn's death, but Robert Kirkman recently detailed why it had to be this way.

"It's just that there's a lot of material that comes from Glenn's death in the comics," Kirkman explained. "And while we do try to change things up to keep things interesting for the audience, and for me, this is one that there's so much that comes from Rick, there's so much with Negan, because that character is someone that he killed, and definitely Maggie is someone that kind of gets put on the trajectory that affects a great number of stories and a great number of characters moving forward. So it was kind of essential that that part of the scene at least remained intact, unfortunately."

As for what's next for The Walking Dead, fans are anxiously awaiting the first proper introduction to The Kingdom, ruled by King Ezekiel. You can read the official description below.

For a number of familiar faces, a new, well-established community seems too good to be true." The episode will stand as the second so far of Season 7 following its premiere last weekend.

The Kingdom episode of The Walking Dead airs this Sunday on AMC.
