The Walking Dead‘s sixth season seemed to grow a bit complacent with the safety of its core characters. Looking back, the biggest deaths came when Nicholas and Deanna bowed out but even they didn’t come without controversy. Nicholas’ dumpster dive lead to the divisive Glenn fake out, leaving a bad taste in fans already hungry for death’s mouths.
To top things off, the season ended on a controversial cliffhanger which only angered those same fans even more. The long awaited arrival of Negan was cut in half when he made his impact on someone’s skull but audiences weren’t shown who the unlucky winner was.

All of the frustrating moments of season look like they’ll be redeemed for those death hungry viewers. The season will start with at least one major death but Negan will only be getting started in 7×01.
Having read The Walking Dead comics, it’s somewhat possible to predict the future. That does mean we will be talking comic book spoilers and possibly TV series spoilers on the next few slides.
Let’s take a look at the likely deaths coming in The Walking Dead season 7…
Glenn
Glenn seems to be the obvious choice for the season opening death. We all know how his death went down in the comics. Neganย bashed his skull in until his eyeball popped out and there was just nothing left.
Having escaped death countless times in the TV series, it seems like Glenn’s time has finally run out. Switching the pizza boy with anyone else in Negan’s line up would likely infuriate fans who have been anticipating Negan’sย comic book entrance to be adapted to television.ย
Plus, the loss of Glenn fuels Maggie for as long as she shall live in the world of The Walking Dead.
Spencer
Just in case you were wondering if Spencer had any guts, you’ll probably find out in the coming episodes…literally.
Spencer was seen in the Season 7 trailer mouthing off to some (likely Rick) saying that Alexandria should have taken a deal with the Saviors when they had the chance. Well, his rebellion against Rick Grimes only grows when he tries to tell Negan that he should kill Alexandria’s leader.
In the comics, Neganย doesn’t enjoy a liar. He slices Spencer’s stomach open and jokes about him having guts all along.
The iconic moment will likely be brought to TV, though it could be handed off from Spencer to another character as many infamous deaths are.
Sasha
Sasha will likely survive Negan’s initial wrath but not the entirety of Season 7.
This theory comes from the closest thing to Sasha’sย comic book equivalent, Holly. Holly finds herself in a relationship with Abraham after he leaves Rosita. She plays a crucial part in the first attack by Rick and company on the Saviors Sanctuary.
When things start going south, Holly drives a school bus into the compound and survives the wreck. However, Negan finds her and takes her hostage. During an apparent trade with Alexandria, Neganย brings her back to Alexandria with a bag over her head and hands her over but when the bag is removed, we see Holly has actually died and reanimated, biting Denise.
Assuming Sashaย takes the place of Holly in the self-sacrificing battle move (which is totally a Sashaย move), that means she and probably another Alexandrian will get the boot during the twisted war with Negan.
Eric
Unfortunately for Aaron, his boyfriend likely won’t make it through the war with Negan.ย
Though he’s not integral part of the show, Jordan Woods-Robinson’s Eric character does step up to the plate for the war when he needs to. However, when his group is ambushed in the comics, he is shot and dies in Aaron’s arms. Luckily for Aaron, Ezekiel was there to comfort him.
Whether or not the TV show reaches this story point in Season 7 will be a factor in Eric’s survival.
Morgan
Morgan has already outlived his comic book counterpart but it seems that was for a reason. He had to save Carol’s life.ย
Now that he has saved Carol’s life, it would appear worlds are colliding with their conflicting ideologies. Carol has been a savage killer for seasons now and Morgan is the complete opposite, calling all life precious and even trying to give threatening enemies a chance.
First of all, if Morgan hesitates around Negan or a Saviors, he’ll be off-ed faster than one can say, “Clear.”
Secondly, once he influences and possibly fixes Carol’s mental state, it would seem his job here is done. Given that he has no comic book counterpart at this point, his fate is mostly unpredictable.
Abraham
Like Morgan, Abraham has also outlived his comic book counterpart. In the comics, it was Abe who got the arrow throw the eye but we saw the fate handed down to Denise on television.
Should Abraham survive Negan’sย vicious eenie-meenie-minie-moeย game, he will be a vital part of Rick’s army when Alexandria marches to war. So much so that he would be right out on the front lines, constantly putting himself in danger or risking his life to save others. It’s no secret Abe seems ready for death given the events at the Hilltop in Season 6, so it’s not unlike death won’t come for him in 7.
