Prime Video’s Best Superhero Franchise Just Got Even Bigger As 3 New Episodes Premiere

After a near two-year wait, one of Prime Video’s best shows is officially back in session. The Amazon streamer’s September 2025 content list features plenty of exciting titles, including the long-awaited return of one of Prime Video’s best superhero franchises. That series, a spin-off of another popular series, just returned for its second season and will continue to roll out new episodes throughout September and October.

On September 17th, Gen V Season 2 premiered on Prime Video. The Boys spin-off debuted its eight-episode sophomore run with three new episodes now available to stream. New episodes are set to then premiere weekly on Wednesdays through the October 22nd season finale. Picking up after Season 1’s cliffhanger ending, Season 2 brings back Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, and Asa Germann as the young supes as they return for another semester at Godolkin University amid Homelander’s iron fist on America and the introduction of a mysterious new dean. The season also pays homage to the late Chance Perdomo, who starred throughout Season 1 as Andrew.

Why You Should Watch Gen V Season 2

It’s not a stretch to say that Gen V is one of Prime Video’s best shows and a successful sequel to The Boys. The series extends the world brought to life in the flagship show while simultaneously establishing itself as its own entity that can stand on its own two legs. Those looking for a fresh take on superheroes can’t go wrong with Gen V, a series that features great character development and story arcs, a perfect blend of dark satire and bloody, fast-paced action, and plenty of tie-ins to the flagship show.

After Season 1 secured a “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes with a near-perfect 97% critics’ score and a 77% audience rating, Gen V Season 2 seems poised to reach similar heights. The season already has a Tomatometer score of 89% based on a total of 28 reviews, with critics raising the season and show as “a spinoff that feels essential.” In his review for the season, ComicBook’s James Hunt described Season 2 as not only “bigger” and “bloodier” than Season 1, but also potentially “even better than The Boys.” Audience members have yet to weigh in with a Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter score.

What’s Next for Gen V?

Gen V Season 2 will continue to roll out throughout late October. Although the show’s fate past the current season remains to be seen, with a Season 3 renewal not yet announced, Amazon Head of Television Vernon Sanders told Entertainment Weekly back in 2023 ahead of the show’s premiere that he envisioned numerous seasons of the show. Sharing the positive reactions from those at Amazon, Sanders revealed, “we think that if fans respond the way we’ve responded to Gen V, we will have many more seasons of the show.”

For now, fans will have to stay tuned for more information about Gen V’s future and continue tuning into Prime Video on Wednesdays for new episodes of Season 2. In between the weekly episode drop, subscribers can watch other September 2025 TV additions like all five seasons of Friday Night Lights, Hazbin Hotel spin-off Helluva Boss, and Prime Video’s new psychological thriller The Girlfriend, as well as the September 26th arrival of all six seasons of NBC’s The Good Place.
