The WWE is rather used to having to distance itself from former superstars when negative things come to light. Hulk Hogan, Chyna, and Chris Benoit have all been the beneficiaries of this tactic to varying degrees, but none of them were presidential candidates.

According to recent reports (via Daily Wrestling News), Vince McMahon has effectively installed a cone of silence over the WWE in regards to Donald Tump, specifying that no one is to talk to the media about the presidential candidate. He's also reportedly told former stars the same thing.

It makes sense that the media would approach WWE employees about Trump, as he's been featured on the produce several times over the years, including 6 WrestleMania appearances, angles on RAW where he "bought" the show, and Trump is even in the WWE Hall of Fame.

McMahon is always dealing with some sort of backlash from fans who aren't happy with his vision of the product, so the last thing he would want to get into is the brush fire that comes with aligning with Trump. That doesn't mean he won't support him from behind the scenes, however, as Linda McMahon has donated $6 million to the Rebuilding America Now super PAC, and both Vince and Linda have also donated $5 million to the Donald J. Trump Foundation, though that was from 2007 to 2009.

Knowing Vince, he's also most likely keeping a potential guest appearance in his pocket for after all this attention dies down, president or not.

The silence probably came after former WWE employee and TNA star Maria Kanellis spoke about her dealings with Trump while she was appearing on Celebrity Apprentice in 2010. Kanellis described the actions of fellow contestant Curtis Stone, who she said left a stench in the women's dressing room after relieving himself. Trump called her out for that, and in the irony of all irony's said " That's disgusting. This is my boardroom, it's not a locker room."

Locker room talk has been quite the controversial topic due to leaked audio from a conversation between Trump and Billy Bush. Kanellis said about the whole ordeal "It was very interesting. He fired me for making a comment that he considered 'locker room talk,' but what he said was much, much worse. I don't believe what he said was 'locker room talk.' What he said was speaking about an assault on a woman, because he was a celebrity…it's incredibly disrespectful."
