Dominic Cooper Reportedly Near Deal To Star In Preacher

Dominic Cooper (Agent Carter) is reportedly very close to signing a deal to star in AMC's Preacher adaptation. According to the Warp, the deal has not been officially closed, but the two sides are at a point of agreement where closing is a formality.

Based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon's irreverent 1990s Vertigo Comics series, Cooper will star as Jesse Custer, a Texas preacher with a tragic past who becomes possessed by a heavenly creature with a power to rival God.

Ruth Nega (Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) is signed on to star as Jesse's girlfriend Tulip, and Joseph Gilgun (Misfits) will play Jesse's Irish vampire best friend, Cassiday. Together, they decide to hunt down God and hold him accountable for…well, everything.

The cast also includes Ian Colletti as Arseface and Lucy Griffiths as Emily, a series single mother created specifically for the television series.

The series is being produced by Evan Goldberg and Seth Green for Sony TV, and is set to air on AMC.
