Deadpool Predicted Arnold Palmer's Death

A couple of months ago we here at Comicbook.com wrote an article looking back at Deadpool Easter eggs. We examined the joke about a "dead pool" at Sister Margaret's bar where Deadpool's friend Weasel worked. It's no secret that the dead pool had a list of celebrity names included in it - a list that we cracked open and examined in detail.

However, the screenshot from the film that prompted all the discussion about the celebrity dead pool list had one name that was hard to make out: and as it turns out, that name a little too spot on for comfort.

Deadpool predicted that golfing legend Arnold Palmer would die.

A loyal Comicbook.com reader named John first called our attention to this somber Easter egg, connecting the dots to what now stands as an unfortunate example of some very black humor.

As John explained, "when I paused the movie I got a clear look at the name and the age, which all the ages correspond to the intended person, and the last name was "Palmer, A - age 86". So whomever chose Arnold Palmer to die was unfortunately correct. Just thought I'd share that info if someone hasn't already."

As correlation to the picture of the board, there's simple math: Deadpool was in production during the year 2015, the year that Arnold Palmer was 86.

Palmer would pass away in real life in September 2016 at the age of 87. So the dead pool at Sister Margaret's wasn't exactly right, numerically speaking, but since Deadpool wasn't released until 2016, it's prediction didn't really start until 2016 when audiences saw it. The entire premise behind the joke is that Palmer would die within close proximity to the events of the film - and technically speaking, that's exactly what happened.

...This Deadpool meta humor may be officially getting out of hand.
