The 'Universal Survival' saga kicked off on Saturday as Goku pleaded for Zen-Oh to deliver on his proposed martial arts tournament. According to Animate Times, the Japanese news outlet says Dragon Ball Super is now being overseen by two new directors. Tatsuya Nagamine and Ryota Nakamura are now working as the anime's directors.
With the pair now instated, the two marks the fourth and fifth directors to take over the role. When Dragon Ball Super aired back in July 2015, Kimitoshi Chioka stood as the anime's first director. Morio Hatano then took over at episode 33 before Kohei Hatano assumed the role. Now, Nagamine and Nakamura will be in charge of the show's future as its delves into the 'Universal Survival' arc.
Luckily, one of the two directors has experience with Dragon Ball Super. Nakamura has directed pervious episodes of the show. However, Nagamine has not had a chance to flex his Super Saiyan muscles so far. The director has instead worked on other popular projects like One Piece Film Z, Digimon, and more. Prior to those works, Nagamine worked on Dragon Ball Kai and was an assistant director for an episode of Dragon Ball GT.
This weekend, Dragon Ball Super's story arc kicked off the 'Universal Survival' saga. You can check out the brief synopsis for it below:
