1 Year Later, Crunchyroll Is Finally Streaming Solo Leveling’s Breakout Replacement

Solo Leveling confirmed an anime sequel in July this year, more than a year after the second season finale. The series’ first feature-length film will follow the story after the fan-favorite Jeju Island Arc. However, the anime has yet to confirm a release window. While fans await Solo Leveling‘s return, Crunchyroll began streaming just the perfect series for fans. Super Cube is a donghua that went viral last year thanks to its spectacular animation. In recent years, the Chinese animation industry has been on the rise thanks to unique stories and unique animation style. The fight choreography especially captured viewers’ eyes, even more than the story itself.

Crunchyroll often streams such series, including the beloved mystery drama Link Click and the popular isekai Lord of Mysteries. While Super Cube premiered in 2025, the platform wasn’t streaming it until now. The series is also available on Prime Video through the Crunchyroll Amazon Channel add-on. While Crunchyroll hasn’t made an official announcement yet, you can find all episodes of the first season on the website. The series debuted on Crunchyroll on August 21st, 2026, as fans await updates on the second season.

Will Super Cube Release a Season 2?

Although there are rumors circulating around the second season, the animation studio and the producers have yet to officially confirm it. Considering the popularity of the donghua, it wouldn’t be surprising if we get an official announcement soon. Now that Crunchyroll has also licensed the show, the chances of a sequel season have only skyrocketed. The donghua is based on a Chinese webtoon with over 300 chapters, so there’s a lot of story left to adapt.

The series centers around Wang Xiaoxiu, who has been in love with his childhood friend, Shen Yao, for as long as he can remember. After they both enrolled in college, she accepts his feelings for her, but that was only the beginning of his struggles. Xiaoxiu finds himself being targeted by a group of delinquents led by Sun Jun, who also wants to pursue Yao. After they threw Xiaoxiu into the river, the ordinary college student finds a mysterious cube that merges with his body and grants him unique powers. The second season will continue his journey as he combats the threats around him with the help of his newfound abilities.

How Is Super Cube Similar to Solo Leveling?

While both series are different at their cores, they do have the same narrative structure. Both series follow the underdog protagonists who gain extraordinary powers after a near-death situation. Not to mention that even the dark-haired appearance of both protagonists is somewhat similar. While Xiaoxiu’s main power is teleportation, it is also an ability Jinwoo is capable of using.

After Xiaoxiu gained his new powers, he does everything he can to become good at fighting, which is pretty much the same thing Jinwoo had going for him. However, despite the similarities, both series have completely different power systems and overall world-building.
