Suicide Squad Extended Cut 13 mintues of new footage Blu-ray

When we here at Comicbook.com recently wrote a feature about Why the DC Movie Universe is working just fine, one of the biggest points that we made was that DC Films and Warner Bros. have mastered making a traditional "double-dip" into a bonafide second life for their movies.

After much criticism and controversy, Batman v Superman still released an "Ultimate Edition" that brought in significant returns and has grown mythic amongst fans and supporters; now, after similar criticism and controversy, it's Suicide Squad's turn.

We just reported on the announcement of a Suicide Squad extended cut - now we know more details about it, with some Blu-ray cover art, to boot.

Collider is reporting that the Suicide Squad extended cut will contain 13 minutes of new footage. The report references a conversation the site previously had with director David Ayer, in which he claimed that, "there's definitely over 10 minutes of material on there. But this cut of a movie is my cut, there's no sort of parallel universe version of the movie, the released movie is my cut."

What that old quote is meant to imply is that Suicide Squad will not likely get a perception-changing new cut like Batman v Superman did with its Ultimate Edition; more than likely, what we'll get is the same film we saw in theaters, just with more scenes added in.

Below you can catch a glimpse of the Blu-ray cover art, with release date details.

Suicide Squad: The Extened Cut will be released on Digital Download on November 28, and on Blu-ray (4K and 3D) on December 5.
