A Popular Pokemon Gets a New Form in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon

Dusk is coming to the Pokemon franchise. Shigeru Ohmori, the director of Pokemon Sun and Moon, revealed that Lycanroc would get a new Dusk form in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Lycanroc is the evolved form of Rockruff, one of the more popular Pokemon from last year's Pokemon Sun and Moon games. Lycanroc had two forms depending on what time of day it evolved at. Its Midday Form resembled a large wolf, while Lycanroc's Midnight Form was bipedal and resembled a werewolf.

Lycanroc's Twilight Form appears to be a combination of the pair. While Lycanroc's Dusk Form stands on all four legs like a wolf, its hair is much shaggier like its Midnight Form. It also has orange fur, which looks to represent a mix between the Midnight Form's red tones and the Midday Form's lighter colored fur. Lycanroc's Dusk Form also has green eyes that glow red when it attacks.

Interestingly, players might not be able to get Lycanroc's Dusk Form normally in Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. According to the Pokemon website, players can't get Lycanroc through "ordinary methods," such as by catching it in the wild.

We'll get a good look at Lycanroc's Dusk Form beginning next week. Ohmori revealed that Ash's Rockruff would evolve into a Dusk Form Lycanroc in the next episode of the Pokemon anime airing in Japan.

As of right now, we don't know if Lycanroc will be a Rock-Type Pokemon like its Midday Form or have a secondary type like its Midnight Form.

While fans have predicted a third form for Lycanroc for a long time, this is the first big reveal for Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, which comes out in November 2017. While the game won't have any "new" Pokemon, developers have hinted that several other Pokemon will have new forms in the game. It's also possible that Lycanroc could have a FOURTH form...although that's just speculation for now.
